I think I will be letting DX! keep their bridesmaids dresses as for another season they missed out, this time it not nearly as close as in some of their previous seasons with rmx and NRG drawing so far clear. This was largely down to a terrible finish with no win in their last four competitive maps, all be it three of these being touch and go affairs that might have gone their way on another day. Yet again though DX! showed themselves to be a bit one-dimensional with only fragty being able to make much impact against some of the tougher sides, Eendjuh and RectuMan also doing well on occassions but really the team not having enough one-on-one skill to cope with the TDM talents of rmx and xE, nor the apparently defensive strength to handle a side like NRG who have so many different ways to hurt you. Fairly comfortable against AMBAR, bdi and SCOT, though not overpowering, I think time is perhaps passing DX! by now with teams like xE, AMBAR and bdi looking more like closing the gap rather than DX! pulling clear.
I should also mention at this point that we're currently intending to hold a Quake 3 CTF Cup in early-mid September which will be part of the PC Zone series of competitions, this being followed up by a league start in late September. |
