Dimension X warreport

Introduction :
|
The first time we played this war we won in mapel4 with 12-2 and we lost in q3wctf1 with 0-1, but there have been some strange things about this war. I asked the admin if we could have a replay and this was the answer :
"Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have a new job and one of the reasons I stepped down from the CTF league was due to the fact I just dont get the time during the week any more.
I have watched the demo you linked and can see what your query is about. While you get no direct hits on the player in question, they should have been close enough to cause major quad splash damage.
The problem may have been caused by an effect i'm sure is getting worse in Q3. That being that a player is just not where the prediction thinks they are. This is further backed up by the lack of 'hit' beeps which are, as far
as i know, server side not client. So perhaps the next question is why was the prediction bad?
I have played in one TDM game where one of the enemy was on a bad cable modem connect from sweden. His PL was awful and he made it worse by insisting on running all the net settings (rate etc) flat out. The result was that it was nearly impossible to hit him. Short of waiting for him to
back into a corner, he was never where any client showed him. This was an extreme case as it was plain he was lagging. However, I have playin in other games (usually with European mainland teams) where I have made 4-5
spot on RL hits on a player and nothing happens.
The only real question was this effect accidental or some sort of cheat. I have noticed that in other games (CS 'the cheaters game' that people have developed scripts to alter their net settings in game to fool the
prediction. I have never actually seen this in Q3 but one must presume its possible as the CPL rules etc outlaw changing of net settings in-game. When i'm adming BWCTF games I tend to check layers net settings at start and then randomly check during the game. So far I have never found anyone
altering settings in game.
I understand your concern, and thanks for bothering to email etc. I think we must put this one down as unidentified, but I will ensure we keep a close look out for anything like this from that team in the furture.
FT"
Ok, replay then : dV seemed to be a lot stronger in these games. If they would 've won a game against us and at least tied another game they would stay in div3b and avoid relegation. Clan ABC, who could 've been the victims of this, can sleep on both ears now, but I still think that dV hired players from other clans, for example I saw a MEX (div2 clan) player entering the game. However; we don't have a clue who really played and it still made no difference after all, hehe
